Charles Dickens was born on February 7 1812, he is regarded as the greatest novelist of the Victorian period and is responsible for creating some of the world’s most memorable characters. Including, Oliver Twist, Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim, The artful Dodger, David Copperfield and many more.

His 1843 Novella, A Christmas Carol, is one of the most influential works ever written and has been adapted and has been adapted countless times: for theatre, film, television and opera.
